How To Keep Your Steam Shower Clean

Whether it is in a home or at a commercial wellness facility, the decision to install a steam shower cannot be reckless because of the considerable amount to be spent. Also, because the expenditures don’t end at the installation. After spending a huge chunk of your savings on a luxury and not-so-common bath installation, one just cannot be lackadaisical about its upkeep.

Steam showers, just like other bath fixtures, need to be maintained to ensure that the investment performs well and lasts long. The steam units might not go a long way, if just considered as fancy structures or a high-end upgrade. Following a regular cleaning routine will keep the steam enclosure running smoothly, letting you enjoy all the benefits it is meant for.

Here are some quick and easy ways to maintain your steam shower saving you from relying solely on professional clean-up services.

Install the steam shower in an area where ventilation is not an issue. The movement of air across the room lets the shower enclosure dry off after each use. Open up the steam cabin along with any windows nearby to allow the moisture accumulated to escape rather than settling on surfaces. In the case of absence of a natural source of ventilation, be sure to install an exhaust fan or a dehumidifier and run it during and after every steam session.
Another practical remedy is to wipe down all the condensation build-up on the interiors of the steam shower right after use using a soft clean cloth. You can choose to dampen the cloth with a mild cleaning solution to get rid of watermarks on a daily basis for a stain-free texture. Regular cleaning also ensures easy removal of any mold and mildew built up.
For a more potent treatment of mold and mildew, use a mixture of bleach and water in a ratio of 1:10 and let the solution stay on the affected areas for 5-7 minutes before rinsing off with clean water.
To get rid of calcium from hard water that gets deposited in the steam nozzles, jets, valves and shower head, use a calcium remover. Remove and soak the shower parts with a white chalky material on them in the calcium cleaner.
Another solution that makes for a highly effective steam shower cleaner is a mixture of white distilled vinegar and water. Letting the removable shower parts sit in a liquid made of equal parts vinegar and water will make them shine like new removing any soap, oil or dirt deposits.
